Data Engineer
(Telecommute from anywhere in the U.S.; Full-time)

Requires: Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalentdegree) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Sciences or closelyrelated field with 2 years of experience in the job offered, as a SoftwareDeveloper, Software Engineer or any related position.
OR
‍Master’sdegree (or foreign equivalent degree) in Computer Science, InformationTechnology, Data Sciences or closely related field.  

Must have demonstrated knowledge of the following:
Languages- Java, Python and Scala;
Big Data Tools- Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka;
Databases- SQL, NoSQL, or Oracle DB;
Cloud Platforms- AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Azure. Knowledge can be gained from experience, certification or college-level coursework.  

Must travel to unanticipated client sites throughout the U.S (30%). 

Use Spark in Python to distribute data processing on large streaming datasets, improving ingestion and speed. Work with analytics business partners to analyze business needs, and data sources and develop technical data pipeline solutions to ingest raw data into data warehouse tables. Work with SQL databases, APIs, flat files, web scrape, and other methods to obtain and ingest raw data leveraging appropriate coding languages such as SQL or Python.  Use Scala to store streaming data to HDFS and to implement Spark for faster processing of data. Develop and maintain Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes to ingest, clean, and transform data from various sources into a format suitable for analysis and reporting. Scale and optimize schema and performance tuning SQL and ETL pipelines in data lake and data warehouse environments. Work on Azure Databricks and HDInsight to resolve complex issues reported by Azure clients.
